In Mekonomen's campaign for Rosa Bandet (Pink Ribbon by The Swedish Cancer Society) you are encouraged to design your own air freshener by participating in a design competition. The winner will be decided by public voting, and will get his/her design produced and sold in Mekonomen stores all over Sweden. The winner will also be awarded with 10 000 kr for donation in her/his name to Rosa Bandet. For every creation made with the tool Mekonomen will also donate 1 kr to Rosa Bandet.
Dareville developed, designed and produced the competition area and the design tool. We used Facebook Connect as a tool for moderating the gallery, but also for sharing the campaign.

Our focus was to keep it stupid simple but with infinite possibilities.
By using a few standard shapes which you could scale, skew and rotate we nailed a great level of simplicity.
Sketches of patterns. You could add patterns to your shapes and we wanted some variation but also keep them clean and simple.

This is how the final design workspace looked like. You could use a few different shapes, scale and rotate. Choose from 21 colors and 6 patterns. When you were satisfied with the design you could invent your own scent or choose a preset. Last, you gave your creation a nice name and saved it in the gallery. Now you were competing!
